XWindows Dock vs RK Launcher: now a Mac style app launcher dock for Windows XP (and Vista)

XWindows Dock - or XWD for short - is the newest free Windows Vista and XP program of the class Application Launcher and Desktop Organizer. But it's not just another one: it's the result of years of use and observation of the many dock programs on the market, plus all functions you only dreamed that your dock would offer!

Note: A bit buggy with Remote Desktop

Here's another one:

RK Launcher. RK Launcher is a free application that will allow the user to have a visually pleasing bar at the side of the screen that is used to quickly launch shortcuts. With support for themes, PNG's and ICO's and with smooth amazing animations, RK Launcher is a versatile and great taskbar replacement.

Tip: When clicking on minimized windows on your taskbar, the windows seem to minimize into the dock which make it confusing. You have to mess with the windows to make the reappear. To get around this, right click on the dock, go to settings, and under the behavior tab, uncheck minimize to dock.
