Internet Explorer 8 Toolbars appear black

Many new Internet Explorer 8 users have been experiencing an issue where the toolbar appears black. Browser functionality is fine. Users can workaround the bug by going to display properties, selecting an alternate color scheme, and then going back to the preferred color scheme.

Other have selected an alternate theme, under the Themes tab, also in display properties.

If this fails, you can go back to the appearance tab, and select the Windows Classic style; though your Desktop will be brought back to a pre-windows look and feel.

Hopefully the bug is fixed soon!

NOTE: May also be a video driver issue, though updating video drivers did not work for me; I have noticed that the video output is a bit choppy after upgrading to Internet Explorer 8.

Update: I found a more recent video driver for my video card (May 2009), and it seemed to have resolved the issue.

Hey the idiots that write IE or whatever let me tell you,,, I waste more of my time figuring out what is wrong with my windows tool bars and applications. Now the tool bars are blackened and this isn't the first time this has happened. So I switch over to my Macintosh and log on to Safari and it works perfectly why don't you smart people take a hint from the people that write Safari and find out why their programs operate perfectly. Dont waste my time clowns.

Users can workaround the bug
Why should we as consumers be working around a bug?? this should have been taken care of a long time ago.
And let me tell you its not the card in the computer ,,,the machine is brand new your software stinks just as vista, windows or any other Microsoft product does
ill be wasting my time fixing your mistakes clown

THANKS for the tip. The "bug" is not fixed as of today for me. It worked to change the control Panel > display. my love/hate with MS continues...

The best workaround is to set the Theme service from Automatic to Manual start. That seems to solve the problem on all systems.
