Straight out of Long Beach California, comes the innovative band, Funk
Rage & Soul. Their musical diversity has been inspired by both the
sounds of legendary greats, such as P-Funk, Funkadelic, Otis Redding,
Bob Marley, Van Morrison and The Temptations, and by the works of more
contemporary artists like Lenny Kravitz, The Beastie Boys, Run DMC, The
Red Hot Chili Peppers and Sublime. Funk Rage & Soul proves to be a
dynamic force in the music industry, both in their presentation of
social messages and their creative, multi-cultural sounds. All of which
are represented in every aspect of the group, right down to their own
cultural diversity within the band.
In the late eighties, Chadd “Ivori” McKeen and Calvin “Chill” Hill
teamed up to create their own rap group appropriately named “Black &
White,” bustin’ rhymes about their true life experiences and social
issues. As their fan base and interest from record labels grew, McKeen
decided to put a band together in hopes of creating the ultimate sound,
thus forming Funk Rage & Soul. After years of success the band signed
with an Indie label who promised the world but ultimately failed to take
FRS to the next level. The band went through many personnel changes to
finally get the right recipe of talent and dedication. The mixture of
culture, musical and song writing abilities, as well as personal styles,
have created, in FRS, a sound that will transcend color barriers and
make a positive impact on audiences of any race, color or creed. So open
your mind, and
“May the FUNK, RAGE in your SOUL”
